Hey — I'm Christopher Aitken. I use AWS every day for work, and I'm building inbox.camp because I think teams that chose AWS shouldn't have to leave it just to keep their email running.
Why this exists
Amazon WorkMail is sunsetting March 31, 2027. When AWS announced the end-of-life, the official suggestion was to migrate to third-party providers like Zoho or Zoom Mail. For teams that chose AWS for a reason — compliance, data residency, cost control — that's not a real answer.
inbox.camp is a managed email service that runs entirely inside your own AWS account. You get a dedicated mail server (the open-source Stalwart), your mail in your S3, outbound delivery through your SES, DNS on your Route 53. I operate it: provisioning, migration, backups, monitoring, upgrades, and the admin console and webmail your team uses. $5 per mailbox per month with a 3-mailbox minimum, plus roughly $20/month of AWS that Amazon bills to you.
How it works
You connect your AWS account with one CloudFormation stack that creates a single IAM role with a published policy. Through that role the engine builds a server in your account, publishes your DNS, imports your WorkMail organization, copies every mailbox, round-trips a test message, and waits for you to click Switch MX. Every command it runs on your server is recorded in your own CloudTrail and Systems Manager history. Delete the stack and I'm locked out; your server keeps running. Details on the security page.
